Dealing with the Unexpected
Dealing with the Unexpected
Whilst change is unavoidable, some changes in life you plan for or can anticipate. When life throws you a curve ball and you find yourself dealing with the unexpected, whether this is on an individual basis or a global one…
Remember…
Practice gratitude and look for the positives, there will always be positives in some shape or size.
Use it as an opportunity to reassess what’s really important to you. What are your real priorities? How can you incorporate more of these into your life? How will this situation allow you to become more of the person you want to be, living more of the life you really want to live?
Let go of the need for things to be different, or how they were before. Accept the situation, it is what it is. In the words of the Borg, resistance is futile. It only creates more stress and unhappiness. Keep in mind that acceptance is not the same thing as resignation. When you accept something for the way it is you stop fighting it and come into a place of peace. So you can move from that place of acceptance to get closer to how you’d like things to be – see point above.
This too shall pass. All things are temporary. Admittedly the underlying situation may always remain, but how you currently think and feel about it will change.
Finding yourself in a state of shock is natural. Not being able to find your bearings is not uncommon. It’s all ok and part of the process. Be kind to yourself.
